Source: Daily Graphic Ghana - A young woman was Wednesday morning left to battle for her life as she fell off a commercial motorbike (Okada) and was hit by a speeding Mercedes-Benz Sprinter passenger minibus on the Tema – Accra Motorway. The woman, identified by her work colleagues only as Abigail, suffered a deep cut on the forehead and a broken hand and lay motionless at the accident spot for a while before a ‘Good Samaritan’, a cabbies driver rushed her limp body to the hospital.
She wore no helmet at the time and eyewitnesses suggested she would survive the ghastly 6:20 am accident only by a miracle.
Two others with her on the Okada, both males and also without helmets, escaped being hit but suffered some bruises.
The accident occurred when the motor hit a bump and fell on its side, throwing the rider and his two pillions onto the highway.
The driver of a Hyundai passenger bus with registration number GM 5645 – 13 who immediately followed the motorbike with registration number M-13 1936 narrowly avoided the falling trio as he swerved into the inner lane.
The Sprinter bus which followed next, however, could not react immediately and ran into the fallen motorbike, hitting Abigail who was only a few meters away from her workplace, a T-roll manufacturing company.
