Source: citifmonline.com - Some chiefs in the Western Region say they are keenly monitoring events from the exploration of oil reserves in the Volta Basin and will oppose any attempts by their colleagues in the Volta Region to demand a percentage of the oil cash.
According to Nana Kwesi Agyemang, “When you look at the distribution of development projects in other parts of this country it does not indicate that people are serious with the comments they make when they meet the people of the Western Region.”
The Chief made the comments when a member of PIAC, Mr. Kwame Jantuah said that the absence of a national Development Plan is hampering development in the country especially the Western Region. Nana Kwesi Agyemang said “whoever much is given much is expected” and so their request for the 10 percent was to bring at par the infrastructural deficits which is crippling the development of the region. |
