, Mustapha Osman reported that a resident in the area was shot in the midst of the chaos.
He has been identified as one Francis Togbedu who had gone to the Salaga Farmers Co-operative Credit Union which is situated just around the school [where the riot took place] to withdraw money when he was shot.
Narrating the incident to Citi News, Mustapha said : “Yesterday an incident happened at the Ahamadiya school. They started writing their exams so they were about to enter the exam hall when the authorities disallowed some students from entering the exam hall simply because they were wearing shoes into the exam hall…but some students exclaimed that they don’t have sandals at that time so there was a confrontation between a teacher and a student .
The teacher subsequently took the issue to the Headmaster who quickly reported it to the Police. They [Police] came to the school and beat the students mercilessly. A resident was shot in the process.”
Mustapha said scores of students who were involved in the riot have been rushed to the Salaga Government Hospital for treatment.
The Police in the area have also declared that there will be a District Security Council meeting to assess the situation.
