A Deacon of the Breman Fawomanye District of the Church of Pentecost and six others have been arrested by the Police for robbing an Elder of the church of an amount of GHC 700.00 and a mobile phone.
Elder Samuel Akumsah caused the arrest of Deacon Kwame Acquah and six other youth of the community who he accused of harming him and stealing his phone and money.
“After they attacked me, they hit me in the left eye and did away with my mobile phone and an amount of seven million cedis (GHC700.00) which was in my pocket…,” the Elder complained in an interview with Adom News.
The Deacon who is yet to be bailed said he had an encounter with the Elder after he spotted him enter the bedroom of an unmarried female and had sex with her.
According to the Deacon, upon spotting the Elder, he quickly rushed to call the Elder’s wife who also spotted the husband in the room of the female.
“The moment he emerged from the room of the lady, he slapped me and I also started struggling with him…however because he was too strong, he overpowered me and run away…,” he said.
But this accusation, Elder Akumsah said were untrue insisting that Deacon Acquah before he emerged from the lady’s room had arranged with the six suspects who readily attacked him and cause injury to his left eye.
Elder Akumsah stated further that but for some ladies who were around and raised alarm leading to his eventual rescue from the hands of the Deacon and his boys, he would have been lynched.
