A daughter of the woman accused of being a witch and a transgender caught at the Accra suburb of Madina has denied that her mother is a witch as has been reported in the media.
Crystal Maame Broni in interview with Adom News said her mother, Barbara Boakye-Yiadom once lived with her in Canada and came back to Ghana to seek medical care after suffering mental problems.
“She is not a witch, she is my mother, she is mentally ill, I don’t know why in Ghana when somebody is mentally ill, the person is considered a witch…,” she said in an interview...
Social media and online platforms were full of pictures of the lady who was said to have been captured in Madina where she confessed she is a witch.
These reports were later rubbished by a cousin of Maame Broni who first revealed the identity of the woman.
“I know her, she is my mother’s sister and came from Canada about three years ago to access medical care…,” Eugene said sorrowfully on Adom FM’s Midday News on Friday.
Eugene added that Madam Barbara Boakye-Yiadom was a Canadian citizen.
The daughter who was upset claimed that she was informed of the mother’s capture by the cousin.
