Source; Daily Guide - A 28-year-old miller at Kasseh near Ada in the Ada East District of the Greater Accra Region who had been charged with defilement, surprised a Tema court when he said his 12-year-old victim requested an amount of Ghc1 before a sexual intercourse.
According to Ebenezer Anumabley alias Fulani, his victim – a school dropout – consented to his proposal to have sex with him upon an agreement that he would pay her the said amount, adding that he fulfilled his promise.
The victim, after the act, reportedly started experiencing sharp pains at her abdomen before bleeding from her vagina – a symptom which drew the attention of her mother, who together with the victim, lodged a complaint with the police, leading to the arrest of the accused.
The court, presided over by Mrs. Florence Ninepence, sentenced Anumabley – who had been charged for defilement – to an eight-year jail term with hard labour on his own plea of guilty.
Presenting the facts of the case, Chief Inspector Jacob A. Asomani said the victim, who resides at Kasseh but a native of Goi in Ada, on December 20, 2014 at about 9:00 am, went to the accused person’s shop at the Kasseh market to grind ginger.
After grinding the ginger for the victim, the accused, who noticed that no customers were present at the mill, lured the victim into the inner part of the mill where he forcibly had sex with her.
Chief Inspector Asomani said after the act, the accused person was said to have worned the victim not to divulge the incident to anyone which she obliged.
The victim, he said, soon started bleeding which compelled her to reveal her ordeal to the mother and a witness in the case; and so without wasting much time, the mother reported the matter to the Kasseh-Ada police.
Police medical report forms were prepared in the name of the victim and handed over to the mother for her (victim) to go for treatment and examination.
The victim went to the Ada East District Hospital where she was treated and discharged. The medical form, which was returned to the police station confirmed the act, Chief Inspector Asomani disclosed.
