Ephesians 5 - 3: Let sexual immorality* and every sort of uncleanness or greediness not even be mentioned among you,+ just as is proper for holy people;+ 4 neither shameful conduct nor foolish talking nor obscene jesting+—things that are not befitting—but rather the giving of thanks.+ 5 For you know this, recognizing it for yourselves, that no sexually immoral person*+ or unclean person or greedy person,+ which means being an idolater, has any inheritance in the Kingdom of the Christ and of God.+ 6 Let no man deceive you with empty words, for because of such things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore, do not be sharers with them; 8 for you were once darkness, but you are now light+ in connection with the Lord.+ Go on walking as children of light, 9 for the fruitage of the light consists of every sort of goodness and righteousness and truth.. ONLINE JW BIBLE Source: GNA Most Reverend Charles Gabriel Palmer Buckle, Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, has described homosexuality as anti-human and anti- social which affects the marriage institution. He said the Catholic Church is against the practice of homosexuality because it is against the law of God and humanity.
“We will not respect homosexuality but have respect for homosexuals because they are created in the likeness of God. We are against them adopting children because it is difficult for homosexuals to raise a child to be responsible in the society,” he said. He was speaking on Sunday at the Feast Day, confirmation of some members and thanksgiving service at St Anne and Joachim Catholic Church in Accra where the Archbishop installed Reverend Father Clement Wilson as the first Parish Priest of the Church. Speaking at a sermon on the topic: “The Family that Prays together, Stays Together,” the Archbishop Buckle noted that the family plays an important role in the institution of marriage. He urged Christians to stand up and affirm their belief in the unchangeable truth and doctrine that marriage is the stable union of a man and a woman ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring. “The Church cannot but uphold the fundamental truth about marriage and family life and within the role of sex and sexuality in the whole of the human and social ecology.” He noted that parents are absent from the upbringing of their children and grandparents are often neglected, abandoned or kept away in old folks homes and rendered useless if not considered a burden to the society. “The Holy Father Pope Francis is calling on all to renew our love and respect for marriage and the family as taught by divine revelation and especially to re-instate proper parenting and re-appreciate the indispensable role of grandparents. He said God is the family that created God through the Father, the Son and the Holy spirit which signified love and unity. The Archbishop believed that the humanity of family is to help one another, urging parents to be responsible to the upbringing of their children since they are the seed for future development and advised the children to respect their parents and elders to live longer. He asked Christians to be steadfast and always rely on God for their problems because there is nothing impossible in the sight of God. Archbishop Buckle said Abraham and Sarah prayed together with faith and God blessed them with a child, and called on the youth to allow their marriage to be centred on prayer for God to bless and grant their desires. Reverend Father Clement Wilson, the Parish Priest of St Anne and Joachim Catholic Church said the achievements of the mission was through hard work. Mr Wallace Akondor, Chairman of the Parish Pastoral Council commended the late Nii Kwei Ahia and the family who gave out the land for the establishment of the Church and the school as well as the dedicated members who have passed away. “It is our prayer that the Church provides shelter for the oppressed, solace for the dejected and healing for the sick and bring us together and closer to God through Christ Jesus.” |
