Source: adomonline.com - Family of the man who confessed to planning to kill President Mahama is set to file an appeal against his conviction at the Human Rights Court.
The family of Charles Antwi will this week file an appeal to challenge the verdict.
With the help of human rights lawyer, Francis Sosu Xavier, the family has been gathering the needed evidence for the appeal.
Several lawyers have criticized the judge for allegedly violating the human rights of Charles Antwi who is suspected to be mentally unstable.
He was slapped with a ten-year jail term although the offence he was charged with carried a maximum sentence of five years.
Lawyer Francis Xavier, who will be representing the family says he has enough to succeed with the appeal.
He said it is not right for the court to incarcerate a person without sound mind, and so there was the need for them to appeal his sentence.
The Human Right lawyer added that the court should have resorted to a medical evaluation to determine whether he is sick or not.
Francis Xavier, however, condemned Charles Antwi’s attempt to kill the President.
Meanwhile, his brother, Kwame Opoku is happy about Lawyer Xavier taking up the case.
