Speaking to Citi News, the President of the GMA, Dr. Kwabena Adusei-Poku accused the Hospital and the Catholic Church of taking a hypocritical stance on the issue.
“GMA is discussing with other persons and then when we have a council meeting, we will deliberate on it and we will come out with an official position on the way forward to help our younger colleagues.” He further chastised the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG), of allowing its hospitals to sack the doctors saying “I thought that they also went on strike on NHIS claims because NHIA was not paying them, but when individuals want their own monies then there is an issue.” Meanwhile, GMA has threatened to withdraw its members from working for the Holy Family Hospital. “Do they think we are joking here? They will not even get doctors to work with at the facility. The next couple of months, we will see how they will get doctors to dispense health there and carry out surgeries. Management of the hospital would have to do it themselves,” General Secretary of the GMA, Dr Justice Yankson fumed. |
