Source: Daily Graphic Ghana - Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur says Ghanaians will renew the mandate of the John Mahama-led administration at the 2016 general elections for its good performance.
Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur expressed the optimism at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) headquarters in Accra on Thursday where he had gone to pick nominations forms for President John Mahama to contest the party’s flagbearership.
In apparent response to the purported challenge to President Mahama’s anticipated unopposed run for the party ticket by one George Boateng, Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur said President Mahama’s team was not worried at all about internal competition and welcomed anyone who intended to challenge him.
Party General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia who presented the nominations forms to the Vice President, confirmed it was the first and only presidential nominations forms to be issued by the party, saying the cost of GHC1,000 for the forms had duly been paid in cash.
NDC Deputy General Secretary, Koku Anyidoho expressed gratitude to the Vice President and his entourage for respecting party processes to pick up the forms.
The party’s Vice Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo also expressed gratitude to the media and party followers for supporting the party’s activities and asked all interested in picking nominations forms to do so openly.
He said the party was providing a level playing field for all and that party officials throughout the country have been asked to give all aspirants unfettered access to party offices. Party officers should also cooperate with aspirants to ensure victory for the party.
Also in attendance at the brief ceremony were Alhaji Abdallah Ahmed Abdallah, NDC National Treasurer; Communications Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah; Employment and Labour Minister, Haruna Iddrisu; Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo and NDC Director of Communications, James Asante.
