Source: Daily Graphic Ghana - Former President Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings has called for the arrest and prosecution of all involved in the acts of violence that have plagued the Talensi constituency by-election. President Rawlings said news of the situation in Talensi was a matter of grave concern and the law enforcement agencies should act with dispatch to apprehend all those known to have participated in the acts of violence, assault, shooting and vandalism. A statement issued by the office of the former president quoted him as saying that “A strong message has to be sent to persons intent on institutionalizing violence, especially during election periods. And the security agencies should enforce the law without fear or favour and without any political bias whatsoever,” the former President stated. Reports from Talensi indicate that there have been incidents of violence and firing of ammunition leading to the hospitalization of some victims and the destruction of vehicles.
