Scores of Ghanaians died while seeking shelter at the GOIL fuel station during the heavy downpour on Wednesday.
About 150 people have so far been confirmed to have died in the incident. President John Mahama has declared three days of national mourning for the victims.
GOIL, in a statement noted that the Board, Management and Staff “remain totally shocked and share in the pain of all families and friends who lost their lives.” It said the fateful day “goes down as a dark day in the annals of GOIL and Ghana.”
Meanwhile prominent political figures have called on government and other agencies to fix perennial floods.
