Source: citifmonline.com - The Police has advised the public to adopt high level security systems in the wake of increasing cases of robberies and break-ins in some parts of the country. According to the Police, reported cases are increasing partly due to the inability of residents to maintain security systems such as community watchdogs associations and monitoring of suspicious behavior in their neighborhoods. The Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohuno gave this advise when he addressed the media at a public parade of some seven persons who were arrested for robbery attacks.
The suspects; Prince Opoku (24), Baba Seidu (22), Godwin Ameka (32), Amanor (23). The unlawful receivers included Kwaku Amoako Ibrahim 26, Charles Benefo 37 and Kwame Korankye (22). Briefing the media, DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohuno stated that the suspects operated in areas around Baatsona, Spintex, Teshie Nungua, Coastal Estate, Adenta Comandos, Ashaley Botchwe, Ashaiman and Tema. According to him, the arrests were made on August 9, 2015 after the Police apprehended two suspects selling the booty they stole. Modus Operandi DCOP stated that the suspects carry out their operation in residential areas and target their victims especially on Sundays between the hours of 6 and 11 am when most residents have left their homes for church services. He said the suspects subsequently find means of gaining access to the compound either by scaling the wall or forcibly opening the locks of the main entrance. Items retrieved included; six flat screen television sets, thirty-five laptops, 1 Ipad and four mobile phones. |
